The Humbler

  • Barns of Rose Hill 95 Chalmers Court Berryville, VA, 22611 United States (map)

About the Film: Danny Gatton (1945-1994) was an American guitarist renowned for his extraordinary technical skill and versatility across multiple genres, including rockabilly, jazz, blues, and country. Often referred to as "The Humbler," Gatton blended these styles with an effortless virtuosity that earned him a reputation as one of the most gifted and underrated guitarists of his time. Despite his relatively low commercial profile, his innovative approach and dazzling performances left a lasting impact on guitar players and enthusiasts worldwide. Gatton's work, both as a solo artist and a session musician, continues to inspire generations of guitarists.

The Humbler is a feature documentary about the exceptional and tragic life of this rare musician, as told through a series of candid interviews that reveal his struggles, trials, and triumphs. After the screening, join us for a live Q&A with filmmaker Virginia Quesada.
